Dholera solar park in 2026: 300 MW live, 1,000 MW sanctioned, 5,000 MW targeted

As of mid-2026, Dholera's solar story has one confirmed anchor and a much larger plan behind it. Tata Power Renewable Energy's 300 MW plant has been running since April 2022, a 1,000 MW first phase is sanctioned, and the ultimate target for the Dholera Ultra-Mega Solar Power Park is 5,000 MW.

What is actually generating

The confirmed operational capacity is the Tata Power Renewables 300 MW plant, commissioned in April 2022 with 873,012 monocrystalline modules across about 1,320 acres, described at commissioning as India's largest single-axis tracker installation. That is the piece you can point to as live today.

What is sanctioned and what is targeted

• The park was approved around April 2018.
• A Phase-1 of 1,000 MW is sanctioned, confirmed in the CEA's September 2025 solar parks record, with Gujarat Power Corporation Ltd as the agency.
• The ultimate target is 5,000 MW, or 5 GW, aimed at around 2030 and not installed.

Beyond the confirmed 300 MW, broader commissioned figures of roughly 1,000 to 1,200 MW have been reported, with around 700 MW said to be stalled on land or power-purchase issues in mid-2025. Those totals do not reconcile cleanly across sources, so we hold to the confirmed 300 MW as the operational number and flag the rest as reported.

Why the distinction matters

The solar park is one of Dholera's genuine on-ground anchors, alongside the Tata semiconductor fab under construction, the expressway reported open and the Activation Area's trunk infrastructure. But a 5,000 MW target is exactly that, a plan aimed at around 2030, and it is often quoted as if it were installed capacity. Clean power at scale is part of the pitch to energy-hungry industries such as semiconductors and electronics, so the park's build-out and the fab's ramp are linked stories. When we can confirm a new tranche against the CEA record or a developer commissioning notice, we will move that megawatt figure from target or reported to confirmed, and not before.
