Square Yard (Gaj)
A standard land unit, also called gaj, equal to 9 sq ft; developed Dholera plots are often quoted per square yard.
A square yard, known locally as a gaj, is one of the most common units for quoting developed plots in Dholera. It is fully standardised: one square yard equals 9 sq ft. Developed and serviced plots are typically priced per square yard or per square foot, while raw or agricultural land is more often quoted per bigha or acre.
The square yard fits cleanly into Dholera's other fixed conversions. One acre equals 4,840 sq yards or 43,560 sq ft, and 40 guntha also make one acre, with each guntha at 1,089 sq ft. Because these are exact, you can move between them without the ambiguity that surrounds the bigha.
For a buyer, the square yard is a comfortable unit to think in for plots, but two cautions apply. First, any specific rupee-per-square-yard price you see is not government-verified and should be treated as indicative only.
